Configuration in Cloud Cruiser Analytics Server

This procedure configures Cloud Cruiser Analytics Server to work with Cloud Cruiser.

If your Cloud Cruiser installation will have more than one application instance as documented in Setting up multiple application instances and you will use Cloud Cruiser Analytics with them, this procedure requires extra or different steps. Contact Cloud Cruiser for assistance.

Before you begin

You must have activated your copy of Cloud Cruiser Analytics Server with a product key as mentioned in Installing Cloud Cruiser Analytics.

To configure Cloud Cruiser Analytics Server

  1. On the Cloud Cruiser Analytics Server computer, open a command prompt and change to the directory
            ​<analytics_server_install_dir>\8.1\bin
    If you installed in the default location, this path is C:\Program Files\CloudCruiser\Analytics Server\8.1\bin.
  2. Enter the command:
        ​    ​tabadmin set wgserver.trusted_hosts "<ccHostname>"
    This command adds the Cloud Cruiser computer to the list of trusted hosts to allow passthrough authentication of Cloud Cruiser users. For <ccHostname>, use the host name or IP address of the Cloud Cruiser computer. The following considerations apply:
    • This computer must have a static IP address. Even if you specify a hostname here, Cloud Cruiser Analytics Server uses the IP address for some communications.
    • If more than one Cloud Cruiser computer will use this installation of Cloud Cruiser Analytics Server, enter their IP addresses in a comma-separated list. For example: tabadmin set wgserver.trusted_hosts "cloudfinance1, cloudfinance2"
    • If specifying an IP address and the Cloud Cruiser computer is on a different subnet than the Cloud Cruiser Analytics Server computer, use the IP address that your router provides for the Cloud Cruiser computer on the subnet where the Cloud Cruiser Analytics Server computer resides.
  3. Enter the command:
        ​    ​tabadmin dbpass <password>
    This command sets the database password for the tableau user. For <password>, enter a password of your choosing. You will enter this password later when configuring the Cloud Cruiser Portal.
  4. Enter the command
            ​tabadmin set vizqlserver.protect_sessions false
    This command allows Cloud Cruiser to display multiple analytics reports at the same time.
  5. Enter the command
            ​tabadmin configure, then enter the command tabadmin restart
    This commits the changes you’ve made and restarts Cloud Cruiser Analytics Server.
  6. Edit the firewall configuration for this computer to open the following ports:
    • 8000 (or other set by you): This is the port number set in the Tableau Server Configuration dialog, 8000 by default. Used for HTTP traffic. Open this port to the Cloud Cruiser​ computer and to all client computers that will view Cloud Cruiser​ Analytics reports.
    • 8060: Used for Cloud Cruiser​ Analytics Server’s PostgreSQL database. Open this port to the Cloud Cruiser​ computer.
  7. In a web browser, log in to Cloud Cruiser​ Analytics Server as the administrator user you created during installation.
    The default URL is http://<serverName>. If you changed the port number, append it to this URL.
  8. Click the Admin tab at the top left of the window, then Sites in the navigation pane below it.
  9. In the content pane of the Sites window, click Add to create a new site. Enter CloudCruiser in both the Site name and Site ID fields, then click OK .
    If you already know the names of the Cloud Cruiser​ users who will view analytics reports, continue to the next step. Otherwise, you can enter them later. Skip to the next article, Installing Analytics Editing.
  10. In the Sites menu in the top right of the page, select your CloudCruiser site.
    The site-level actions you perform next will now apply to this site.
  11. In the navigation pane, click Site Users and then in the content pane, click Add to create a new user in your CloudCruiser site.
  12. Enter the user’s Cloud Cruiser​ username, full name, and Cloud Cruiser​ password in the appropriate fields, select the Interactor license level, and then click Add to save the new user.
    This gives a
    Cloud Cruiser​ user permission to the content in your Cloud Cruiser​ Analytics Server site. The username must match the one in Cloud Cruiser, but the passwords are not required to match​.
    Your
    Cloud Cruiser​ license allows you to add up to five users to the site.
