Managing services

A service can be almost anything in your computing environment that you want to charge for, including but not limited to storage consumption, storage I/O, and CPU consumption.

You can define services and their rates either by creating them in with the Cloud Cruiser Portal or by importing them. Importing services saves time if you have a large number of them to maintain.

You manage services in the Financial > Services page of the Cloud Cruiser Portal.

Services installed with Cloud Cruiser

As part of the CloudSmart-Now packages offering, Cloud Cruiser includes services for private cloud data sources to handle common chargeback use cases. Usage is automatically matched to one of these services.

  • VMs of various sizes (Micro, Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large), in both standard and on-standard configurations
  • VM storage allocated
  • VM storage used (optional)

By default, Cloud Cruiser charges for VM storage allocated. If you would rather charge by VM storage used, on the Services page show inactive services, activate the vCenter VM Storage Used service, and then deactivate the vCenter VM Storage Allocated service.

For Windows Azure Pack, Cloud Cruiser provides the following services:
