Importing users

You can import users into Cloud Cruiser in two ways: by running the ccimport utility against a comma-delimited (CSV) file in the defined format or by using an ETL workbook to collect the user data from a data source, transform it as necessary, and publish it as rate plans. This article explains how to do both.

Using ccimport

Before you begin

Create a CSV file on the Cloud Cruiser server in User CSV file format.

To import users

  • Enter the command ccimport -t user -f <filename> [-u] [-D <parameter> ...]

The table below lists the parameters you can use when importing users. You must precede each parameter with -D. For example, to import from the file users.csv placing all users in the admin group and giving them the Admin role:

    ccimport -t user -f users.csv -D defaultUserGroup=admin -D defaultRole=ADMIN

Parameter

Description

activateNewUsers

If true, enables access to the users. If false, disables access to the users. The default is true.

allowAllAccounts

If true, all customer accounts are viewable for the users. The default is false.

defaultAccountStructure

Default account structure view for new users

defaultRole

Default role for new users. This can be ADMINCUST_BUDGET, DEMO, LICENSE, POST_USAGE, and REPORT_USER. The default is REPORT_USER.

defaultUserGroup

Group to assign to users who do not have one specified in the import file. If the user group does not exist, it will be created.

nativeUsers

When true, specifies that the users are native to Cloud Cruiser. False means that they instead come from an LDAP service. In version 4.1 and later, the default is true. In version 4.0.x, the default is false.

Users imported with this set to false cannot log in.

newUserPassword

Specifies whether new users will be created with the default password or no password. Valid values are default and none. The default is default.

Using an ETL workbook
